Erik Wetterling – Key Takeaways From 2 Mining Conferences, And Value Proposition In Multiple Resource Companies In Attendance

Erik Wetterling, Founder and Editor of The Hedgeless Horseman website, joins me to review the key investing themes and takeaways from the 2 TopShelf Partners conferences we attended last week:  the Commodities Global Expo 2025 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and then the Natural Resource Stocks Expo 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia.   Erik also highlights 11 different companies that caught his attention at the event either as portfolio positions, or new companies that he is doing more due diligence on.   This is a wide-ranging conversation that gets into gold, silver, copper, nickel, and critical minerals resource investing.

The companies discussed in the interview are: First Nordic Metals Corp. (TSX.V: FNM, OTCQB: FNMCF, Stockholm: FNMC SDB, Frankfurt: HEG0), Sonoro Gold Corp. (TSXV: SGO | OTCQB: SMOFF | FRA: 23SP), Stillwater Critical Minerals Corp. (TSXV:PGE)(OTCQB:PGEZF)(FSE:J0G), Scottie Resources Corp. (TSXV: SCOT) (OTCQB: SCTSF) (FSE: SR8), West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. (TSXV: WRLG) (OTCQB: WRLGF), Denarius Metals Corp. (TSXV: DSLV) (OTCQX: DNRSF), Power Metallic Mines Inc. The Horseman used to like ESK, LIO, IRV, and WAMFF. What does he think of them now? Thanks.

There was an error communicating with his server

I believe Erik still likes all those companies. We both just met with Lion One at the conferences we were at last week, and I’m watching to see how they do with production over the next quarter or 2 now that they purchased some new mining equipment, and they are going to be expanding the mill to take on more ore throughput, which should help lower costs.

As for Western Alaska Minerals – now with a name change to Alaska Silver, I just had dinner with their IR lady in Vancouver 2 Fridays back, and she said earlier that day she was talking with Erik, so I know he’s still considering it prospective in one of his portfolios. I may take a closer look soon myself.

Irving has good geology, but they are not very good at marketing their story or communicating with the market, and some are still not sure how things will go in Japan as a jurisdiction when it comes to a development scenario.

I can’t post a 3 year monthly but it looks awesome!

I wonder if Anne is still in PGE, she backed up the truck! It’s nice to see some interest in this stock. DT

            Hopefully quietly elated… 😁

I just spent some time with Mike Rowley last week and he is very jazzed about what is setting up and the interest he had from other large investors at those conferences.

SCZ is my play for a breakout above $0.60, an eleven year high…

Santacruz was sure on fire again today – with SCZ up 13.5%.

Its become one of my largest weighted positions this year, and it is still crazy undervalued as a producer of 18 million silver equivalent ounces compared to all their peers. I could see it still going up multiple-fold just to be rated more fairly with peer producers, even if metals prices went sideways. If silver goes up into the high $30s or low $40s, then fuggedaboutit. 😉

Maybe an early call but I call a breakout to $36… Silver daily

      May 20, 2025 20:44 PM

+36 That would be nice to see… because above $35.30 there isn’t much overhead resistance (maybe a bit in the $37-$38 zone, then not much until the historic 1980 and 2011 peaks in the $49-$50 region).

It would be fantastic to see a big catchup trade in silver and the silver equities…. Long overdue where the gold:silver ratio has been hovering around 100 for some time. If that compressed to 80 or 70, the silver stocks would really rip.

      May 20, 2025 20:29 PM

Dan, I agree but a breakout to $36 would be a much bigger breakout.
      For now: Higher.
